Gillian Silverthorn grew up in a small village in Hampshire before moving later in life to Sennen, Cornwall where she lives with her husband Kevin.

She has two grown children Dominic and Emma, and a granddaughter Mimi.

She ran a successful business and had many interests but came to realise that alcohol was creating a constant anxiety and loss of joy. After numerous attempts to moderate her alcohol intake she decided enough was enough and set out on her sober journey.

In the last years she has taken up strength training and run many marathons.

Her debut non fiction work is entitled Sober at Sixty.
