Kenya is Calling!
Kevin and myself are excited! But we are also slightly nervous, as we realised yesterday that we have just six months to get super fit for the For Rangers Ultra - a 230km run through the conservancies in Kenya to raise money for the wonderful rangers that protect the rhinos and elephants. It seemed only yesterday we were saying we have still got over a year!
I had originally planned to run the For Rangers Ultra five years ago, but what with Covid and various things going on it was pushed back to September 1st 2025. But with an added bonus: Kevin is now joining me.
This run involves running the equivalent of a marathon every day for five consecutive days and the very first day falls on my 65th birthday! So to anyone that usually sends me a birthday card, or buys me a coffee, or in the past a very large red wine, please consider popping a few quid on my page to help the rangers instead.
Raising money for this event is not compulsory as we all pay the organisers, Beyond The Ultimate, for our own place to take part and they then give a huge proportion of that money to the rangers. So anything we raise is extra but really appreciated.
I will be updating on how the six months training leading up to this goes and let everyone know a little about the work the rangers do and the race itself. And when we return I will do some blog posts on the race itself.
Thanks for reading. Stay tuned!
